With Group Show #17, the New & Abstract Gallery presents a multifaceted exhibition of contemporary works spanning painting, video, installation, and digital visual spaces. At its core is an open dialogue between abstraction, movement, and narrative fragments, which brings together diverse artistic approaches within a shared space of resonance.
Special attention is given to the newly presented video installation *The Swimmer* by Rolf Bremer, which is shown in a revised form and places body, space, and perception in a fluid context.
Artists:
Rolf Bremer
Nele-Marie Franzen

A particular highlight is the curated section “New Perspectives,” organized by Yulia Ani and Julia Liko. In this section, the Berlin-based artists open up new approaches to abstract and contemporary art and broaden our perspective on current visual languages.

Rolf Bremer studied communication design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. Since then, he has been working in Berlin as an artist and motion designer, blending art with digital aesthetics. The video installation The Swimmer is presented in a revised form and explores the fluid interplay between the body, space, and perception.
Klaus Hu presents his series Stripes, which explores line, rhythm, and form, oscillating between painterly gesture and digital layering. The works draw on fundamental visual structures and translate them into a contemporary visual language brimming with energy and tension—here, abstraction becomes an open space for thought.
Ilja Freer presents a large-scale work from the series Running, from which additional pieces will also be exhibited by New & Abstract at this year’s Discovery Art Fair in Cologne. The work explores movement, structure, and perception within a dynamically constructed pictorial space.
Nele-Marie Franzen, an artist based in Hamburg, captivates viewers with her vibrantly colored works, which exude a powerful painterly presence. We are looking forward to her double-wall installation, which will be one of the highlights of the exhibition.
Jette Leder, whose work has already been successfully exhibited by New & Abstract at art fairs in Hamburg and Frankfurt, explores the poetry of everyday life and the subtle gestures of human existence. Her portraits delve into the nuances of expression and seek the essence of being human—where closeness evokes both fascination and unease.
