Candy (Yellow)

Phillip Staffa (lives and works in Berlin) moves between sculpture, installation and sound, exploring how emotion, colour and playfulness intertwine as forms of artistic expression. His works offer an immediate, physically tangible gateway to the world of objects and symbols that shape our everyday lives.

Known for his sculptural installations – such as oversized sweets or transformed everyday forms – Staffa translates familiar objects into poetic visual worlds that oscillate between recognition and disorientation. The starting point is often a playful impulse that, through a process-driven approach, crystallises into forms that are both clear and open-ended.

Alongside his visual practice, he works across disciplines in the fields of sound and installation, including with the MONAS Collective, which explores ecological and acoustic spaces. In both fields, play remains a central principle of his work: as a method of insight, as an attitude, and as an aesthetic strategy.

Staffa’s practice is intended as an invitation to a sensitive, attentive perception of the everyday – and as a plea for an art that takes lightness, presence and joy seriously.
