Olga Karika
Olga Karika is a Ukrainian artist and a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Kyiv (KNUBA).
Working primarily in oil, she increasingly uses metal as an integral part of her paintings, leaving sections unpainted to engage with light, space and the viewer. Blurred botanical forms, floral compositions and abstract landscapes merge with layered, impressionistic brushstrokes.
Her work explores the fragility of perception and memory. Rather than depicting flowers and landscapes literally, she uses them as fleeting traces of remembered experiences, suspended between recognition and abstraction. The reflective metal surfaces create a changing dialogue with their surroundings, shifting with light, space and the viewer’s position. Her paintings move between image and material, reflection and presence, memory and the present.
