Paolo Cervino was born in Brindisi (IT) in 1974. He moved to Turin in 1994 where he took a degree in Civil Engineering and where his passion for painting started growing up attending museums of contemporary art. Today he lives and works in Brindisi again. How did you get into art?

My approach to art was natural, art attracted me with the same force with which a magnet the size of a building attracts a small nail.

How would you describe your style? What makes your work special?

My style is immersed in abstract expressionism, in my work I try to bring the imprint of images known to our mind despite the matrix of the work being highly abstract. How do you go about developing your work?

The works are carried out in the studio and are the result of countless passages of color spread with the spatula, this reproduces the desired effect and shades. In this process it is important to calibrate the right amount of color and the right pressure to apply to the spatula.Who or what influences you?

Gerhard Richter's abstractionism combined with the lights and reflections of contemporary metropolises certainly play a decisive role in the composition of the work. I could say that "our time" influences me.

Make us curious. What are you planning to do next?

After? Afterwards I don't know, life is now! In any case, I think I will paint until I have the strength, so I am organizing myself to have larger spaces where I can work and exhibit. Art fairs in New York and Miami are in my next plans.Learn more about the artist:
